Avinox M2 Series wheel speed sensor
The range of an EAB depends on several factors: battery capacity (measured in Wh), level of assistance used, terrain (flat, mountainous), weight of the cyclist and the bike, and weather conditions. An electric bike with a 500 Wh battery generally offers 50 to 80 km with moderate assistance. For long or mountainous journeys, opt for models with 750 Wh or more. The central motor offers better weight distribution and natural pedalling assistance, ideal for road and MTB use. Hub motors (Mahle, Bafang) are more affordable in price but less efficient in the mountains. For versatile use (urban journeys and a few slopes), the central motor is preferable. For purely urban use with a limited price, hub motors are sufficient. Our workshop teams can advise you according to your profile and journeys.
Maintaining an EAB is very similar to that of a classic bike: periodic servicing (belt, chain, hydraulic brakes), battery replacement after 500-800 cycles (3-5 years), software updates for the motor.
In our workshop, we charge standard rates: full service €80-120, battery replacement €400-800 depending on the model. Compared to the cost of petrol, this electric bike remains very economical for daily journeys and long trips.
