Our SUNN design office has been working on a brand new project for several months! The goal has always been the same since the beginning, to please you with a bike that meets your expectations. Bench, brainstorming, sketches, design, here are all the first steps of a new project…
Do you know the Radical?
It was probably the most iconic bike of our brand. A bike that revolutionized the world of MTB. It allowed the greatest champions to win a multitude of world titles. The Radical is back in the spotlight while retaining its DNA as a fast and agile bike.
A bike designed to devour modern enduro competitions where you have to hurtle down the tracks as fast as a pure downhill bike while being able to pedal by yourself to reach the start.
Development.
The development team worked hard to design this machine that is as radical as it is versatile. A unique suspension has been developed around the famous single-pivot system plus rocker arm that made the Radical legendary.
The kinematics have been specially designed to provide maximum grip and support to withstand the worst constraints. Every millimeter of travel is used to the maximum, which allows for the right travel.
Radical geometry.
For the first time, the Radical frame is made entirely of carbon, a hard and meticulous work that has optimized the rigidity of the chassis on key points such as dynamics on the rear or control on the front. All while keeping the weight contained.
The geometry of the new Radical has been pushed to its maximum by taking into account the technical solutions chosen to offer the perfect compromise between stability and dynamism.
The idea is to have the comfort necessary to ride fast without sacrificing precision in the more technical parts. Above all, don't be afraid, the Radical allows you to pedal hard with an optimized chain effect and you will be surprised by the speed you can acquire with such a machine.
Versatility.
The wheel trajectory was a key point in the development to optimize the ratio curve. The wheel moves back for a good part of its trajectory to stick to the terrain and above all keep a predictable attitude for the rider. This solution leads to the installation of a chain return strategically placed in the seat stays.
The Radical is also effective when you have to brake hard thanks to the concentric pivot point at the rear wheel axle. A solution that allows for ultra-active suspension even on heavy braking.
As you will have understood, this bike is optimized to give maximum safety to the rider so that he feels able to release the brakes and pick up speed at any time.
On the terrain.
The Radical is ultra predictable and silent, taking on obstacles without flinching, which allows you to pick up maximum speed. It is stable and efficient when the speed increases and incredibly comfortable. The biggest surprise comes from its dynamism because bikes of this size are often difficult to move.
The Radical is the opposite of that type of machine, and it’s just as good at picking up speed on the pedals as it is in the tighter sections. It’s a perfect compromise for a bike made for riding fast in enduro. But make no mistake, the Radical is still in the development phase.
We’re working closely with professional riders and suspension experts to further refine its performance. When it’s released in early 2025, it’ll be even faster, more stable and more comfortable than it already is.
