For 2023, Lapierre offers a new Overvolt TR frame with the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen4 750Wh PowerTube / LED Remote.

 

New connectivity:

 

Intelligent, customizable and forward-looking, the eBike Flow application is the connection tool with your future e-MTB equipped with a Bosch motor via the Led Remote. The key that will take you into the world of connected cycling. Over-the-air updates will continually improve the user experience with innovative new features. With this application, in addition to the fact that assistance modes can be set individually, activities are recorded completely automatically and fitness applications such as Apple Health can also be integrated.

 

The connections were placed on the upper part of the diagonal tube in order to avoid any problem in the event of immersion of the lower part of the bike, when crossing a river for example.

 

The charging socket has also been placed above the engine for the same reasons.

 

 

Lapierre wanted to give more importance to certain details such as inserting the seat post as large as possible in order to give small sizes the possibility of mounting 125 mm telescopic seat posts instead of 100 mm, for example.

 

Positioning the motor more vertically allowed the battery to slide in and out in front of it while being placed as low as possible.

 

A brand new plastic engine guard reinforced with an aluminum plate protects the lower engine.

Suspension


We find the characteristics of the eZesty suspension. We also find the possibility of being able to mount a container positioned at the lowest position. From an aesthetic point of view, we obtain more fluid lines between the upper tube and the stays than with the old OST+ kinematics but also a lower ratio allowing the pressure in the shock absorber to be lowered.

 

The “profiled” shape of the upper part of the seat tube avoids the need for “reinforcements” at the connection with the upper tube. The bike maintains a slopping and clean appearance, regardless of frame size. The frame design accounts for engine cooling via large side openings.

In order to best respond to the constraints linked to ever-larger cassettes, the derailleur hanger is new for greater rigidity in the area, synonymous with precision of changes while retaining its role as a “fuse”.

The “rooting” of the sheaths/hoses has been improved and fully guided for ease of maintenance and absence of noise. The rigidity of the rear part was also the center of attention in order to meet the constraints of the power developed by the engine. To do this we increased the size/section of the bases and the main pivot.

 

Kinematics and Anti-squat


The cinematic has therefore been completely reworked. It incorporates the characteristics of the kinematics of the Spicy/Zesty/eZesty but also of the Overvolt AM GLP 2 in 160 mm. The shock absorber is placed under the upper tube for the reasons seen further upstream and because its weight is half the weight of a container filled with water positioned just above the engine with therefore a much less penalizing influence than a have a full bottle positioned under the upper tube.

 

The ratio has been reduced in order to put less stress on the shock absorber by lowering the air pressure. We move to 205x60 mm stroke compared to 210x50 mm on the previous kinematics. The anti-squat is not extreme in order to let the suspension work on uneven terrain and to promote traction. All the work was to find the right balance in order to have a sufficiently significant anti-squat when going uphill and thus have a little pressure on the front of the bike, but without it being too important and having a negative effect on battery consumption.
